Re: can i keep what i catch???

ok it is ok sea fishing to keep what you catch

there are minimum sizes

http://www.btinternet.com/~kevin.l.j.../nfsa-size.htm,

and also some extra rules for bass in nursery areas

enjoy but never be greedy ( have seen bin bags full of mackeral on chesil on a really hot day = whats the point ) its the sport that counts

You will find some species of shad (Allis and Twaite) are protected species and are not allowed to be kept at all.

Sure others can tell you the correct rules about catching fish such as sea trout and the requirements (Licence) you need to keep one.

Re: can i keep what i catch???

Paul,

Are you out on a skippered boat - if so they will advise you about what to keep etc. If you are out with a mate then just a case of checking out the laws on minimum fish sizes really and being sensible - like if you get makeral then keep some for the table and bait but no point in keeping dozens like Ive seen some anglers do.

Top man for trying to check out what to do mate - at the end of the day we are all after some nice fish but conservation is the name of the game more and more these days and watching a fish youve caught swim off is wicked !!!!

Re: can i keep what i catch???

Hi Paul
It's good to hear you have caught your first fish. As for what you can keep - Why keep anything? Can you or yours cook? in which case there is very little that need go back unless you have too much or it's undersize. Don't listen to the old wives who say that Garfish for example are poisonous-they taste great as do dogfish and many other species.
Good hunting and good eating.
Ron
