New to this - ish!

Hi all, used to beach and pier fish at Southend on Sea when I was a lad, 30 od years ago. I now live in Gloucester and have decided its time to give it another go. I intending to fish the Bristol Channel, Portishead, Clevedon WSM area, if anyone can give me any advice it would be very very much appreciated.

Have just got myself a beach caster and reel and have now realised I cant remember a thing about tackle, knots, rigs, bait etc..., again, any help would I would be so greatful, any good books that anyone can point me to?

If anyone is going out and doesnt mind me tagging along so I can learn it all again then the beers are on me.
