Not far from me Greg. I'm in Salisbury. When you next get down to the coast try a local tackle shop, or one in your area may have some tide tables for the South Coast from Bournemouth to Poole. There is a good website, but it only gives you 7 days at a time, so not much good for long term forward planning. http://www.ukho.gov.uk/tideprediction.cfm Cheers Paul. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season

7 days in advance is good for me!!!!! i am not too hot at planning so trips just happen!!!!! work and family life dont cater for planning!!!! cheers to every1 for all the advice. what rod/reel set up does everyone use for their spinning???

I have a 7' medium action spinning rod and I use a Abu 5000 reel loaded with 20lb braid. 20lb is overkill, but it was the smallest breaking strain available when I purchased it. It's still the diameter of 6lb line though. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season

hi downsouth, i have looked at the tidal website you posted for me, now remember i am a novice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i put in bournemouth and it gives 4 high times and 4 low times, slightly confused by numbers. what does the height mean, cos some of the low tides are higher than the high tides?? am i being really thick here??? apologies if i am!!! and sometimes on the high tides there are gaps of 3 or 4 hours then gaps of 8 hours??? i am gonna take a guess now, for an afternoon/early eve session do i pick a high tide time around that time then aim to fish 2 hours either side as suggested earlier in thread??? lakes are so much easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers Greg

Hi Greg Some south coast tidal locations get a double high tide occasionally. Poole is one where this happens on a frequent basis and it has to with the way the tide moves around the IOW I believe, though some smart sod will no doubt post the scientific reason.... :) The gaps of roughly 6 hours are the true high and low tidal differences. When you have there 4 HW/LW times I think it's easier to look at the graph and then check where the 2 high and 2 low tide times are, then look in the grid for the accurate time. For today, true LW was at 03:12 and high water was at 8:37 and then 15:57 for low water and 20:55 for high water. Pick the high tide in the evening when you wish to fish and turn up a few hours before and start to fish away. You'll get the last hours of the flood and the first two hours of the ebb. This doesn't always hold true as some locations may fish best on the last two of the ebb and first two of the flood, but it is a good general rule of thumb. When you have there 4 HW/LW times I think it's easier to look at the gra[ph and then check the where the 2 high and 2 low tide times are and then look in the grid for the accurate time. Also, check with the local tackle shops for the best fishing times and join a sea angling club. The nearest to Bournemouth is Christchurch SAC I think. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season

i like christchurch, where do u aim there, from what i remember, not been there many times!! you park up high and walk down to beach, u looking for groynes again???

Mudeford and Avon beaches plus Hengitsbury Head. There is parking right close to both the beaches as well as Hengitsbury, but the car park here closes at 10pm. Groynes have to be good fishing as they trap food and have mussell growth along the sides. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season
