Greg, wait until May/June and pop along to Boscombe Pier. Drop on to the beach and spin along the legs of the pier. You should be able to reach the 5th leg with a Toby and a spinning rod. If you want to try the beach, amble along the groynes between Boscombe Pier and Bournemouth Pier, spinning along the sides of the groynes.

You never know, you might even bump into me doing the exact same thing in the summer.

Paul.

cheers steve,
you have really fired the imagination now!!!

a question for Downsouth, at bournemouth does the tide state matter??
having never sea fished before what do i need to know about the tide??
if not does it mean i can fish any time during the day or are there peak times???

i really am a novice eh??????!!!!!!!!!!! lakes are so much easier to deal with!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks Greg

Greg,

2 hrs before HW and 2 after is normally pretty good. Don't bother on really small neap tides. Best times are in the evening going towards dusk and darkness. Mackeral tend to like the tide run at the ends of the piers (this is difficult at Boscombe ) and bass, garfish and mullet tend to be a little more sheltered and you'll find these close under the supports of the pier. There are a couple of Mullet enthusiasts on the forum so they will offer more advice for those fish. Try Steve.

Where in Wiltshire are you?
