My favorite mark. The best car to use the main bird stacye car, can't miss it's on the right as you drive toward Portland past the ferrybridge pub, costly thouge £5+for 12hours. The an good cafe and toilets there. The car park it self's is 1/4mile long and made of chork to keep speed down be cairly if you got an low siting car. Fishing wise this time of year be peared for an long walk. The top of the shigle bank if 40ft above the car and is steply slopping and even more so onthe sea facing side on the bank. This time of year the best mark are to found to the right of car park ( faire right ). You see an old WW2 bunker walk that way than up the bank and theres an line of post marking an keep out area because of nesting bird. DO NOT fish in fornt of the 1st post thers an bloody big stag there the fearth you can walk normaly the better the fishing. All thoug this is deep water mark distance casting work's the best in the summer but in the winter cod of up 17LB can be taken with 20 mters of the shore (I've got the pictures ) Day light will give black bream and small red bream, garfish, scand, mackel and the odd place. there have been mulite showing the last few year as well. Try flote fish for the scand and garfish even bass over the flooding tide with samll strip of mackel taking most of fish. Distace casting is the best for the bream and place useing rag and squid, trigerfish to crad are also possible Night time see's the Soumthound's, bullhuss, triger fish, dogfish, large pout, conger eel. Most of hound's I've had have fallen to sandeel's with crad acounting for the bullhuss and triggerfish. Party squid seams to wedd out the bigger dogfish and pout, congers love mackle or small pout. Rig wise this time of year: 1 up 1 down cilp up patinoser, 2 hook boomer, wish bone, pully rig. Theres normaly an lot of sippder crads around in the summer foalting beads work well I've found that one mid size along with two small beads per hook snood work's and still take the better fish. Hook's wise size 1 saltwater champoins or semi circle do the job going up to size 2/0 or 3/0 for coggers or cod. Hope this help, good luck in macth. |
