Travel Rod Hi all, I'm looking to buy a travel rod for sea/beach fishing (whenever we go away the missus goes wild with my fishing gear and I worry about getting my rods broken). Can anyone recommend a decent travel sea rod please? Am I better off going for a multi sectioned rod or a telescopic rod? I've done a quick search and looked at rods like the Shakespeare Travel Salt Rod Any advice would be appreciated thanks in advance Skafloc

Re: Travel Rod I have had two telescopic beach rods around the £30 - £40 range and they are pretty rubbish and both times I gave them away following the end of my holiday to the locals in Goa. On my return I decided to buy a decent travel rod. On my short list was the Salt Travel, as it packed away smaller than most others. I was also tempted by the Greys Nomad and the Penn Jetstream. The chap in the Harlepool tackle shop said the Salt was best for the money, but he had none in stock. He gave me an offer on the Penn Jetstream that was too good to be true at £140. I know this is generally expensive for a travel rod or rod in general, but it oozes quality ant it will last for a long time.

Thanks for that. I finally bought the Salt Travel rod and I'm really pleased with the build and quality of the rod - it also comes in a sturdy tube which will help when it gets buried in the car boot. Now all I have to do is learn to cast it properly from a wheelchair. I have hooked up a tennis ball and will go down the local park with my son and see how far I can cast it - ![]()
