Re: kent and sussex meet

yea maybe for us in the southwest you could find a guest house that would accomidate us? for the weekend or something? could have some beers too then without having to worry about the journey home!!!
i mean arrive sat night have a few drinks up early sun fishing all day then travel home or optional stay sunday night.
sound good in theory now all i got to do is work out how to get there!!! its a long way to hitch a ride

Re: kent and sussex meet

I think the block booking at a guest house would be a great idea. Or one of the large chain hotels like Ibis who do cheep weekend breaks. if its a two day trip I would be up for it. Perhaps beach one day boat the next.

By the way ...where is kent?

Re: kent and sussex meet

Yep,

Good idea .. I'm up for this. Not too concerned about the venue, but how about somewhere at/near a major-ish town to help those looking for nearby accomodation? Block booking for the weekend is a great idea, as then a couple of venues and a beverage or two is possible!

Paul, any venue in mind?

CheerZ,
JB. <-- Just arrived back from hols and feeling a little bit bleary eyed!

Re: kent and sussex meet

hi john-boy,welcome back to sunny?!? kent, venues, well thats a difficult one,if you were thinking about kent then perhaps dungeness, but that gets packed during the weekend, dover i suppose is an option, the breakwater is an idea, you can book places and is reliable for good sport,
i have suggested a kent/sussex meet,i dont know much about the fishing in sussex, perhaps one of our friends from there can come up with a couple of likely venues, what do you think ?

Re: kent and sussex meet

Hi Paul, thanks for the welcome home .. hmm, 38 degrees when I got on the plane, 10 when I got off - felt a bit chilly tbh! But I heard on the radio there was frost-risk, and that can only mean the Cod season is moving closer!!

Yep, those sound like good options. I've never fished Samphire Hoe, isn't a little on the "rough" side? Love to give it a go, though, if you know the spots to hit ...

As for Dungie, that's fine, but I think it would be nice to have a "comfortable" venue if we're doing it as a partly social thing - perhaps one where we can almost fish out the back of the car (yes, I'm a lazy git) ... Princes' Parade at Seabrook might be an option, or Fisherman's beach.

Breakwater sounds like a good idea, though, seeing as it fishes so well during the day. Deal Pier can also fish pretty well during November ...

Happy to go anywhere, though, having said that!

CheerZ,
JB.

Re: kent and sussex meet

hi john-boy,know what you mean about"comfortable",any amount of walking loaded with gear kills me,you are right about the social part of it,would be a lot more social with a promenade or pier to fish with each other, fishermans beach is a great idea,it is one of my favourite venues and the best bit of it is the chip shop just down the road.
sounds favourite to me,

Re: kent and sussex meet

I'm up for if you can make it either the 2nd weekend or last weekend of the month!?

Happy to fish anywhere - if a local can give us some tips then all the better.

cheers
