What a Day.

OK here comes the sentimental bit!

As I amble through life I have discovered that there are a couple of things we humans yearn for. One, is that we can feel part of something, something that we belong to, and second, that we are accepted.

These feelings came to me at the breakwater yesterday. There was something that went beyond the fishing. The fishing was merely a vehicle. The vehicle brought Richard from Gloustershire, Shaun from Bristol, Pross from Wales, and so the list goes on. The thing we did was interact with each other, we laughed we smiled we talked, some more than others, but I certainly felt that I belonged to something special and I was too, accepted!!
The thing is we belonged there, every one of us. It didn’t matter how we looked, it didn’t matter what sort of job we had, it didn’t matter what kind of car we drove. In fact nothing mattered except for the fact we wanted to fish and have a good time, and from what I could make out, we did.

Friendships were formed yesterday. Long lasting? We will have to see but I for one will remember our day’s fishing together for some time too come.

Old Smoothie, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I’m only sorry you brought the fly gear down for me to see only for us to get so engrossed in everything else going on. This is going to need me to take a separate trip up too you. I somehow feel that we will be seeing a lot more of each other. The flounder are coming!!

Richard, what can I say? Thanks for an awesome website mate and thanks to everyone who came along, making it such a memorable day for me.

Kev, Dave was right!! You did keep those sandeel to yourself!!

Jules, keep taking the pills mate. I don’t know, bloody taxi drivers!!!!!
Sure your mate doesn’t owe me beer money!! A pleasure.

Simon, Dave, Ping, Pete, Andy and everyone else………..See you on the beaches!

lol yes i agree we need to find this guy and give him a bravery award! if he had of kicked my rod i would have been forced to shove him seaward!.
but what a joke really i mean who practices the 400m hurdles along the top of the breakwater where there is 15-25 rod tips!

Re: What a Day.

I think it is a new event, the breakwater wall steeplechase. It's going to catch on soon and thousands will turn up to compete and make money for charity while dressed as dolphins or something. I bet if he had tripped on someone's line and gone over the side he'd have sent one of those no win no fee leeches after us and fishing from the breakwater would have been banned. A****hole! Still, it was funny when he got tangled and had the nerve to shake his head at us all!
