Re: Devon Shore Meet - not long now

RIGS

You have lots of rocks to strengthen the breakwater directly below you. You have seaweed about 10m past these in a lot of places if you're fishing away from the marina. If you fish inside the marina you have seaweed directly in front of the rocks.

Although it is possible to fish Pennel and 2up 1 down kind of rigs you might be safer choosing a running ledger or pulley rig and just use the one hook. I lost a very nice conger because the 2nd hook snagged the rocks just below the water. I was gutted and now tend to stick with 1 hook unless I'm not after anything big.

Congers 20lb+ have been seen recently and 2lb+ wrasse are being pulled out quite often. Pollock and mackerel have also been 2lb+ in the last couple of weeks.

BAIT

Peeler working well at the moment. Rag also doing good. Mackerel is the ever reliant bait down there also. Squid is good if it's mixed in with something else.

Re: Devon Shore Meet - not long now

TYPE OF FISHING

Float does very well during the day but the bottom, although slow, gives nice surprises every once and a while.

Feathering all this year has been rubbish and I have consistently watched people on floats pulling in fish on a 5 to 1 ratio next to people feathering.

That's all I can think of at the moment.
