Smile Ladey Bay Clevedon Shore fishing

Ladey Bay Clevedon Shore fishing for cod

Well 8am we met up on the lane just before the track down to Ladey Bay itself - if you have never fished Ladey Bay always travel light as the walk can be a nightmare if you are carrying lots of sea fishing tackle ( its about 10 min walk to the marks )

Lucky that myself and old smoothound are in peak condition so the walk was no problems

At Ladey Bay the first 100 yrd marks you will be require to cast about 100yrds to find smooth ground so with this local knowledge provided by old smouthound we continued for anothor 100yds so that we only needed to cast 50yrds to be fishing on sand beds

Bait for the day were lug worm squid rag and mackeral all fished on pulley rigs .The Bristol channel has the second highest tide range in the world so a min.. of 6oz grip leads were needed to stand a chance of hold bottom ( you will not hold bottom once the tide is in full flow )

So all set up , with the hight tide at 11am ( this mark fishes 3hrs up and 2 hrs down ) we cast out and our eyes were fixed on the rod tips

The land in the back ground is wales

As the tide came and went there was sadly no fish for me and with only one knock I thought to myself - thats why they call it fishing not catching

But on a positive note old smoothound had a very small pout

Looking very pro old smoothound bring loads of local knowledge

So I will be back in a months time to see if the cod are there and a big diff to meeting up with old smoothound again
