Re: Filey/scarborough/bridlington

I've fished off Bridlington harbour wall a couple of times recently, last being Tuesday day/night.

During daylight hours I've seen occasional flatties and small Whiting, you hear stories of school bass, but I haven't seen any as yet. You will get plenty of tip movement, but in my experience not much end result. I thought it was just me, but everyone seemed to be having the same issues. I'll be trying smaller hooks next time aiming specifically for flatties, you never know!!

Anyway, with the onset of darkness and a flooding tide the action starts to pick up as the bigger Whiting move in. Don't expect miracles, a couple of Fridays ago high tide was 10:55pm, I didn't catch anything worth mentioning until about 2am!! But then it went mad for about an hour with both rods getting a work out. Although the action was better during the 2 hours before high tide (7:10pm) on Tuesday, the 2 hours down was again more productive.

Tuesday bag included flatties, Pout (not caught them here before, another chap had a couple as well), and Whiting of various sizes including those that can put a reasonable bend in an old 12' Shakespear Beachcaster.
