South Parade Pier, Southsea, Hants

A pleasant day today on the landing stage.
Been waiting for the schools to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brisk N wind made it difficult with a light float and carp rod. Tiny strips of mackerel on size 6s.
Still, 14 mackerel about half returned by shaking off the hook (not handling).
Plus a lone pollack, some small bream and Allis!!!

Re: South Parade Pier, Southsea, Hants

No gars!

Pollack not like they were in May! -

Mackerel worthwhile on light gear. Use less than a carp rod and you'll have trouble swinging them over the rail.

The trick is to imitate the whitebait which is in clouds under the ironwork.
Size 6 hooks and a sliver 3cm x 2mm.

Fish a small slider float a bit deeper than you would for gars (8 - 14') for a variety of species ....
