| Re: mumbles pier imfo please hi plugger mumbles pier has allegedly been fishing its pants off recently. it does have a habit of churning out quite a few different species around this time of year and this year has been no exception. try fishing crab off the end at range for the chance of picking up a nice smoothhound - an 11lb fish was the best caught last year. the majority of bass are caught straight in amongst the legs on live sandeel. casting toward the lifeboat station in amongst the legs will give a chance of a double figure conger. fishing ragworm on the float will offer wrasse, pollack, triggerfish and perhaps small bream. these have all been reported in the last few weeks... usual doggies, gurnards and a surprise 20-30lb anglerfish (according to a report on another forum) have been showing to standard bottom fishing with worm or fish baits. the mackerel and garfish are often there of course and there is now a small tackle shop at the base of the pier though i havent been there so cant comment on how good it is. fishing toward the islands on the righthand side has always been better for the odd plaice and later in the year dabs. get there early and spread yourselves out on the fishing platform at the end of the pier. - definately take a dropnet - it always throws up some surprises. the anglerfish report would be quite unbelievable if it wasnt for a verified 40lb'er caught at knab rock (a few hundred yards from the pier) about 5yrs back..... __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales |

| Re: mumbles pier imfo please wow on the mark the juan. the only thing i can add is there are loads of triggers down there at the moment, for them fish straight down the side on the concrete platform (the end) with two hook rigs, small hooks and small bits of rag or squid. good luck john __________________ Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf.
