A foggy Muse "You should have been here yesterday"!!!!!

Am I alone or do we all suffer from this "you should have been here yesterday syndrome"?

Whenever i go fishing I always enquire what the fishing is like from the anglers who are already there. "Crap mate" is the usual respone, and then the dreaded "but yesterday!!!! Oh my god we had to hire a van to take the mackerel away!! or "It was ok this morning, Bass, congers, tuna, lesser spooted doodlebugs, we just couldnt keep up it was getting boring, but now? nothing.

This phenomena has been so marked i have been trying to fool it. I have told everyone im going fishing tomorrow but then quickly dashed out, gear in hand. Only to find it was yesterday they caught all the fish, or worse still I later find out tomorrow was a record breaking day.

I am coming to the conclusion that the only way to make sure is to fish all the time.

Re: A foggy Muse "You should have been here yesterday"!!!!!

On occasions its very true. At our local marks in Worthing, Sussex some of the best fishing to be had is when the weather is really unsettled, blowing a strong south westerly, nice rough seas, dirty water etc. This is when Worthing produces most fish and better fish e.g smoothounds, loads of dogfish, whiting, better bass etc.

During these conditions it is always the "local hardcore" anglers who know the area and what they are likely to produce and are therefore catching the most and generally the better fish.

Once the weather has settled, the sea flattens and the sun shines, everyone comes out to fish but the fish have since moved off and people are generally left disappointed.

If you hear a place is fishing well try and fish it as soon as you can, whatever the weather and dont put it off for a nicer day as the fish may have gone.

:) Far too familiar. I too thought it was just me. Glad to hear that other people do catch fish and it's not just a mirage.

Re: A foggy Muse "You should have been here yesterday"!!!!!

lol
foggy what are you like.

Most anglers at babbacombe are lying b*****ds (i dunno wether u can swear or not if not sorry) as you know foggy i go in extreme conditions but sometimes see u on a nice day down there.

if you fancy it foggy and have a stronger rod there is a flatfish bed pointing at exmouth direction.

see if you can get a ledger out there as far as you can may be in for a few flounder, plaice.

well im all night fishing on saturday down meadfoot off the beach so i will see what i can get, Prob a few bass, flatfish, doggies ETC.

also i know the man who owns wriggleys in teignmouth and can get discounted bait if you need it.

also foggy mate do you recommend any spinning rods and i will guess you will recommend your ABU revo sx.

oh yeah foggy,,,,remember you teaching me how to use a multiplier properly when we first started getting talking..well i owe you a big thanks now as i can use it almost perfect,,,,ONLY 3 or 4 small minor birdnests which take 2 mins to untangle anyway i wanna say thanks.

Can i buy you a lure/spinner or something like that.

THANKS FOGGY
see you soon at babbacombe pier.

Thanks

Kris

Re: A foggy Muse "You should have been here yesterday"!!!!!

well i'd be best off on the steps as im taking my ''PRO HARDCORE'' tackle not the small poxy tackle i take babbacombe i mean my beachcasters and multipliers equaled up with a seat-box and 20 breakaway leads, size 2 or 3 swivels, size 1 or 2 hooks 50 LB line (ciggies are a must lol), 1 peice suit, and all the ''BIG a** equipment) not the, size 6 or 6 size hooks and swivells and hooks like i use down babbacombe or small 4 oz leads odd spinner or two.

I WILL BE A DIFFERENT PERSON IF I SEE YOU SATURDAY YOU WOULDENT NOTICE ME.

im going from 5-PM till 2 or 3-PM.

Thanks

Mullet Fisherman
