Question brixhamgazza

Been a 'rock' guy for many years fishing the s.devon marks but now living in Surrey (dont ask !!!!).
I can reach Sussex , Kent coast in a morning but will have to look at the beach.
Anyone travelling down regularly or got any ideas on marks you can hit in a few hours drive?
Got a reasonable beachcaster but need a fixed spool, there's loads on the market, any recommendations in the £30 - £50 range?
Tight lines

Re: brixhamgazza

welcome aboard!

I recently bought the Daiwa Samurai-3 3550 and the Daiwa Emcast 5000 and I've been impressed with them both.

They can both cast very good distances and the Emcast 5000 which is the big boy of the two can handle big fish really well.

I know of people that have had issues with daiwa reels for saltwater fishing but personally I've not had a problem.

Shimano reels are highly recommended by a lot of people but the price tag matches the quality. If I hadn't needed 2 reels at the same time I may have gone for one of these instead.

Re: brixhamgazza

you cant really go wronge with fixed spoil reels, i as happy with the 1 i spent £12 on as i am with the shakespear 1 my dad got me for about twice that, the shakspear 1 does have a slightly smoother feel to it though and has more ball bearings

Re: brixhamgazza

Hi Gazza, I've returned to sea fishing after a long lay-off and fish the Sussex coastline, with varying success. If you ever want to meet up, let me know.

Re: brixhamgazza

how do gaz, regarding fixed spools, the ones simon mentions are good reels thogh if you want to spend just a smidge over budget then look at the shimano range ie 6000-8000,if you scout about you will find a 6000 for under £60 and you wont be dissapointed with it...enjoy
