Hengistbury head shore fishing

Hengistbury head shore fishing meet up - Well we met up at 8am in the car park and after a quick cup of coffee we sorted ourselves out

Hengistbury head shore fishing
High tide 1pm - fishing up and then back down
Baits - Sandeel (frozen) Mackerel Crab and rag
Range 50 - 120 yrds

The train did not start till 10am and stops a 6pm now, so we decided that the walk would be to much and settled for the beach near the car park (which is £1.00 an hour rip off or what)

We set up various rigs with sandeel, rag and mackerel and cast from 50 to 120 yrds out to see where the fish were feeding

Hengistbury head beach is made up of a mixture of shingle and sand, its a gently slope any you are probable fishing in about 30 foot of water a 60yrds (that’s a guess)

The first hour was very quiet but finally Carlton brother caught a small school bass. Andgy then turned up and on his first cast caught another small school bass

Things are looking good me thinks

But that was it, High tide came and went and nothing was going on. There were a lot of people on the beach and the weather was red hot so maybe this was the reason

So at 2.30pm andgy and me decided enough is enough and it was ever pack up and go home or move to another shore venue

So being fishermen we moved

Huirst castle shore fishing
Still busy with tourist we managed to get parked (just)

Out went the four rods and out came the beers - it was a hot day still

Its deeper water here 40 - 50 foot and a sharp ish sloping pebble shore

15 minutes later and the rods started to rattle bream me thinks

For the rest of the evening we were kept busy with small bream, which was great after a long morning of nothing

It did drop off at low tided but we new that as the tided turned back in then it would bring in the bigger fish

But it was 8pm and we both had a long drive back — although we really wanted to stay, as it looked fantastic as the tide started to turn. There was quiet a lot of guys on the beach who were in for the night

Big thumbs up to Carlton for org.. the day

Unhappy Re: Hengistbury head shore fishing

i would like to thank richard and andyg form coming down

as richard said very hard place to fish really in the morning

we should have stuck to the first option huirst castle but thats the chance you take an you never no how its going to go but it sounded like richard and andy had a better time of things in the afternoon sorry we couldnt join you
we stayed on for about another hour and we got nothing
i dont no how they can charge £1 an hour to park that was a rip off for sure it made it a exspensive days fishing
would you go to huirst castle again richard and andy?
i must admitt its the place i always go and always catch something

Re: Hengistbury head shore fishing

Yes as I like to fish deep water its easy to park ( not on sunny days) you can set your kit out an have a comfortable fish

I will be up to going back there any time , just need to get some more info on depth of pegs and tide flow

My pleasure coming along Carlton, thoroughly enjoyed the day out - and the goodies you're some man!

Am I up for it again? I'm surprised you even have to ask.................
