What steals hooks?

Spent a lovely evening on the west arm of Brighton marina on Saturday. Fresh air good conversation and a pizza, unfortunately no fish. During the course of the night my mate and I must have lost 4 hooks off rigs which had the line cut ir chewed through. Any ideas what did this as we were both at a loss .

Re: What steals hooks?

Crabs !

Nearly always down to crabs - they snip through the line normally at the hook end - regular problem unfortunatley ....

Cool Re: What steals hooks?

Spider Crabs.

To get around the problem use low breaking strain braid. They'll never cut that!!

Re: What steals hooks?

You only lost 4 hooks? You got of lightly. I lost about a dozen in one session at Chesil last year.
