Eastbourne

Hi all. Im new to the site, and to sea fishing. I am interested in learning how to catch Bass in the Eastbourne area. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. I am an avid reader and have the John Darling book, but would like up to date lacal knowledge. By the way, i have been 3 times now, although not fishing for Bass, so have grasped some of the basics!!

Re: Eastbourne

sorry mate , not really my area, but there are many different ways to catch bass ie , plugging, spinning, flyfishing or just bottom fishing with worm or fish baits. i tend to fish big fish baits like squid or mackeral fillet on size 3/0 or 4/0 hooks in the colder months oct-mar then during the spring /summer i like to spin for them with wedges or plugs like rapalas or even try float fishing with sand eel or live prawn , hope this helps a bit mate ....kev

Re: Eastbourne

Havn't specifically targeted Bass in the past, but soon they will start to show in numbers, tend to catch mine in the Pevensy bay area aspecially when there is a good surf with a decent wind behind it.

Will most prob do a bit of plugging down the hollywell side as soon as the may rot goes and the water clears up. Best so far is just a mere 3lb, that was fishing an Easterly, prevailing wind along here is south westerly, Apparently Bass don't mind Easterlies.

Re: Eastbourne

Fished white horses yesterday, ended up with 3 Bass, biggest 47cm.

Today same spot 1 Bass undersize, most prob fish better after 4.30 but had to go at 3pm. still there out there now, and the rockling seem to have gone.
