| Re: brighton for bass???? Hi mate Have not fished there for bloody years !! But the shore bass do not to be leaving and are around all year ( just get hit and miss ) As for bait think big - squid / live bait ect should get some nice blows soon so as soon after a storm hit the beach and fish close in ( night being the better ) THere are some good bass boys here so hopefully they will give you some tips __________________ Richard Fishing Tackle | Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: brighton for bass???? Hi, after fly fishing for 40 years to fish "BIG" with a whole mackerel or a large lump of squid is a completely new experience !!!!. Ive caught a 20lb pike on fly --- and their mouth IS BIG. Ill give it a try and take your advice and fish BIG. Best regards, Dave |

| Re: brighton for bass???? There are Bass around Brighton Marina nearly all year though this is the time of year when some of the really big ones are caught. Lots of possible livebaits (e.g pouts, herrings, mackerel, smelt) are used to catch them plus always a chance of hooking into something else. Mackerel are still being caught along with Herring but with the wind forecast next week you'll have to wait for the water to clear out again. I have witnessed more bigger bass on the East Arm but they can come up anywhere. Fish close to the wall for best results. Another good bait is live prawn but other species like wrasse and pollock can become a problem. Another good spot is the Banjo Groyne between the West Arm and the Palace Pier - always a few big bass caught every year there. I am from Sussex and caught my biggest bass (13lb 14oz) in January last year so this proves they are still around even during the winter months. ![]() |

| Re: brighton for bass???? Many thanks for your advice. Any fishing is good but pier fishing I cant get on with. I live opposite the west pier and frequently see people fishing the high tide, result zero !!!. Last week this guy was fishing low tide. At that time of the tide he was fishing in about 2ft or less of water. I walked down the the pebbles on to the sand to tell him how shallow it was-- in his bag were 3, 4lb---5lb bass!!. So Ive bought a 2nd hand 7HT reel a 12ft bass rod and the next opportunity I be there. I'm learning to fish for bass, cast with my multiplier, power cast OTG, to fish from my boat out of the marina and how to fish the marina arms. Not to bad for 76 --- I'll never live long enough to learn all that!!!!. Fly fishing is my number 1 sport --- I would love to get a good bass on the fly. |
