Hello people I would like some advice on fishing samphire hoe for bass. I here its a nightmare for snags and wanted info on rigs, and best times to fish. Have done a bit of bass fishing at The black wall down the warren and had a few little uns but never caught a large bass and here that the hoe is the place for them.

Re: Advice needed on samphire hoe i have never fished the hoe mate, but in my opinion one of the best ways to fish a venue like that with a cart load of snags is to use one of the rod rests that you see on the local piers that hold the rod horizontal out from the wall, the sort that the pollack anglers use round here, this is how i have fished the breakwater for bass,i lower the bait (perhaps a whole squid or a live pout ) down to the bottom and then wind it up a few turns so that it is away from the snags, it has worked for me mate

Re: Advice needed on samphire hoe i haven't heard of too many big bass down there. i would saythe the warren produces more of the big ones. as for down the hoe it might be worth fishing a live joey, pout or sandeel under a big float, a metre or so away from the wall. you might have to fish mobile if the tide is running. i would fish at night and also fish a set of booms down the side with worm baits. fishing down the side will help for catch live pout, putting stunned/ dying fish in the water around your float, and keeping you busy as the you won't get a bite from a big bass very often. and use the circle hooks for the live baits.
