Surf popper

Watching Rex Hunt just now, some guy was showing a rig for Surf fishing bit like a 2 hook Pater. but on the top hook he had a" Surf Popper" it was floated hook with a streaming fly like tail ( Blue/Silver/White) that when fishing the surf it would bob up and down with the waves whilst the bottom hook is baited fish bait..
Cannot help thinking something like this would be deadly down Rossili.

Anyone else see the article.

Re: Surf popper

Only be effective in the surf so I would just fish on the top hook with a short trace around 12”and a the main bait of Sand eel/worm/prawn on a flowing trace,

The guy in Oz reckons it accounted for more fish than the baited one!!!!

Lure fishing and ledgering the surf all in one go, double chances me thinks

Re: Surf popper

i recon the top hook would work with a ragworn or sandeel too. abit like float fishing, but more practicle for fishing in the surf.
