Is today bass day?? First, I'm new on this forum so greetings from sunny swansea. Being only a summer fisherman, I tend to concentrate on bass fishing. I have always fish on a low tide and up to 3h in from the south gower reef and mumbles light house. I always fished with a float and live prawns and this year started mixing it with small weight and pulley rig on guleys and peeler crab. Allthough over the years I have had a few 4-6lbs, the last 2 summers have been pretty poor with only small catchs. Time to re-assess me think. Today, I due to the strong westerly, I'm gonna try a new mark. Either Owxich point or Port Eynon. I will fish on mid to high tide so I can fish at dusk and night. I will be fishing with squid for a change and crab, mussels 9lots down there). Lets hope it pays off!! As I fish with a 15lbs line, has anyone got tips to avoid hooking other species that might snap my line...or any tips at all for these marks??

Re: Is today bass day?? Just to follow up on "Is today a bass day", well it wasnt. I fished from 7 til 10 using peelers and squid and after catching a random looking fish (which was as ugly as my ex-wife) on my 1st cast, I didnt get a single bite after that. Mind you, nobody else did!! I will try again tomorrow night with peelers, squid or rag and some lures. fingers crossed!!

Re: Is today bass day?? Well, the other night wasn't a bass night but ended up going last night on a neap tide and after a slow start (3h with nothing) I got a 5.5lbs bass in 2ft of water over rocks and boulders on squid. Biggest catch for me this year so I was well chuffed...photos to follow when I can be bothered uploading them!
