:lol: HELLO BEN,TOPE HERE ONCE AGAIN.HOW IS YOU FISHING GOING,HAVE YOU HAD ANY SCHOOL BASS OUT YET OR NOT.YOU WILL PROBALLY FIND THAT THE SEASON PROGRESSES THEN THE FISHING WILL START TO GET BETTER.AROUND MARCH-APRIL YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND FRESH PEELER CRABS FROM ROCKY SHORES.THIS IS A TOP BAIT FOR BASS.DURRING THE SUMMER MONTHS YOU CAN EVEN TRY SPINNING FOR THEM FROM A PIER,JETTY OR GROYNES.IF YOU ARE FISHING FROM THE PIER OR JETTY,TRY USING A SMALL LIVE POUTING ABOUT 6-7INCHES LONG,FISHED ON A PULLEY RIG,STRAIGHT DOWN THE SIDE OF THE PIER OR JETTY.GROYNES CAN ALSO PRODUCE FISH,ALSO TRY FISHING IN GULLEYS.THIS IS A SORT OF CHANNEL THAT THE FISH WILL SWIM UP TO FIND IT'S FOOD SOURCE.SANDEELS IS A ANOTHER GOOD BAIT TO USE FOR BASS.WHEN SPINNING YOU CAN EITHER USE A TOBY LURE,REDGILLS,WHICH ARE RUBBER EELS OR RUBBER LOOK LIKE FISH.TRY FISHING FOR BASS IN ROUGH SEAS.IF YOU ARE ON A PIER AND THIER IS A ROCKY BREAKWATER,TRY CASTING CLOSE TO THE ROCKS,THIS IS WHERE THE BASS COULD BE HIDING,HERE THEY WILL FEED ON SMALL FLATFISH,SHRIMPS,PRAWNS,SANDEELS AND SMALL FISHFRY.
ANOTHER METHOD TO FISH FOR BASS IF YOPU ARE ON A PIER IS TO USE A WHOLE MACKEREL HEAD DROPPED JUST DOWN THE SIDE OF THE WALL.I HOPE YOU FIND THIS USEFUL TO YOU.

hi tope
i have had one school bass which was last summer and was only about 7-8 inches long so didnt really count for much
where i live there is a beach which has a small stream thing leading in2 it, this is controlled by a strang weir type thing, where the stream enters the sea there is a spit thing whic shelters this area making a small bay/lagoon thing, in the midle of this at low tide a small channel runs through the middle. come the summer this fills up with masive bass and mullet(some of the bass are as large as at least 2 foot long!!!!)
i would love to know how to catch some of these fish, i have tryed everything spinning, squid, sand ells, rag ect.. the only things i can think of which i havent are crab and small live fish. i could get a plentiful suply of small live fish because in the fresh water side of this wier thing you can catch hundreds of small rud(would these do the trick and stay alive in the "salt" water long enough??)

I would give crab a good go , make sure the fresh and just on the peel

that might work, what are the fake samd ells like as bait for bass??

Some people love them , but for me I like to use the real thing

Some of the other lads will post what they think

ok then thanks, im not quite sure how you are suposed to use them as well and what conditions are best as well
