Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

Steve,

Well mate I apologise to you and Pixy - Ive got everything muddled up with shore angling and boat fishing - sorry for causing any concern !

Makes interesting reading though about returning fish and respectin the areas and bass rules - enjoy your bassing mate.

Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

Teignmouth is a Bass nursery. You are right bass fishing is banned from april to november, but only for boat angling. shore fishing is not banned, there is a size limit of i think 14 1/4 inches from the shore. As for the use of sandeels, from the boat, you shouldnt use them, especially in the estuary. the limit to the boat fishing is argued, but i take it to be from shaldon lighthouse to the opposite lighthouse. i am well knowledge about this situation being a member of tsas, and i sell the sand eels from the beach in the summer.

Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

Hi Luke,
I was just wondering if you can give the forum members some discount on the eels this coming season.
I always get mine from the place you work .
Having said that I have also noticed the cost rising over the last couple of years and the quantity getting smaller.
What do you think?

Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

I remember when the sand eels used to be £1 a scoop, back in the day, god im making myself feel old and im only 22. When I serve the sand eels, I do try to give the customer more than they have paid for, only if they are nice to me, but all you have to do is ask.

Im not certain if I will be selling them this year, hoping to get a proper job! But if you come for sand eels, and if I am working, I will make sure I give you a good quantity, and maybe a good deal if no one is watching.

They are hopefully going to try and catch them on the 1st of april, so fingers crossed they will have them from then onwards.

Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

Hi guys,

yeah you've got it right....no boat fishing inside the 2 lights. Fishing for bass from the shore is allowed but as the regs say..not with sandeels, however, although I've been boarded by the fisheries boat (don't worry I hadn't done anything wrong!) no-one checks the shore anglers. Pretty sure they all use sandeels.

Terrible winds this spring and i've yet to take the boat off its mooring for a trip out. (Nimue..Teignmouth)

Maybe catch up with some of you this summer, I go down at least once a week when the weather permits.

Luke I always get my sandeels at your place......could do with some big ones mate!!!

Cheers Guys....Jules is back.

Re: Bass Fishing In Teignmouth

The last few days the eels have been really nice, mostly all eel and no launce and the eel that are there are big.

Last year we had a lot of small eels, and everybody moaned about the size. but at the end of the day, we can only catch what is out there, it would be great to be able to pick out the big eels that are swimming in a shoal of thousands. But even im not that good, its hard enough trying to catch them with your hands in a bucket!!!
