| Re: New member Try and use fresh rag this time of the year Bri, live eels work great especially when drifting on a boat or under a float but frozen ones don't tend to fish that well - dogfish will love you for them and you could pick up the odd ray... Peeler or mackerel ( fresh or frozen ) will normally tempt the bigger Bass as will big squid baits... Rough weather throwing up a big sea also helps ( not normally a problem up north lol ) as does fishing at dusk and dawn.. Spinning with artificial lures and plugging is a great method for Bass but it mostly depends on the type of ground you are fishing over...Surf beaches will require your bait to be hard on the bottom amongst the breakers whereas high ledges and rocky pinnacles mean you can float fish a regworm or live eel with a good chance of a pollack taking the bait - this will apply if you decide to try a bit of spinning too - same gear for salmon and trout should work fine !
