Hi guys, Just joined this site tot ry and get my first Bass under my belt. Always been passionate about fishing but let it slip over the last few years during which time, my cousin has become fanatical about it and has even had his ten year old son catching Bass before me. I would love any tips on tactics or location to aid me in my quest for a Bass this summer in Torbay. I'm heading out plugging this morning but am not entirely sure where to go. Anyway, I hope to hear from someone at least and will keep you all posted with any progress I make. Enjoy a fruitful summer, Sharpey

Re: Torbay Bass Where would you go if you were a bass? I fancy a deep rocky point on the corner over those rocks, i can see it in my head, but can,t think what they call it, last time i was there a boy racer knocked my wife off her motorbike!

Re: Torbay Bass Thanks for the response guys. I tried Shellstone beach on the rocks below the Berry Head hotel and yesterday clambered down the cliffs at Sharkham but nothing. I think I probably need to pull my finger out and have a dawn session hey? Any more tips will be greatly appreciated. How's everyone else getting on and what have you caught recently? Cue masses of gloating... ha

Re: Torbay Bass Hi and welcome Fellow Angler, After fishing plugs of many kinds in all conditions in Torbay over the last few decades they are IMO not the "B end and all of it" , yes plugs will take fish at the right times and some plugs are far better than others. Conditions IMO must be right, sunny windless days with gin clear water are rubbish, get some ruffling on the surface and a few small waves crashing on the shore are good conditions. If you can, try to use live bait as much as possible this will increase your chances of catching Bass considerably, use IE Prawn, live sandeel, small fish up to about 8 inches long such as Pollack, wrasse, blennies, mackerel, Pout's, Gurnards, smelt. Use these live baits under a sturdy float big enough to support these live fish, a more slender float is used to support prawn and Eels. Good luck ![]()
