Re: Bass sizes

Is that list of size limits a "proper" legal MLS list as set by the fisheries or some namby pamby made up club/federation recomended size list?? People bang on about bass but in truth they are a non pressure stock and extremely plentifull,i know theres loads around through angling and working at sea,one little 16ft boat caught 50 odd stone of bass the other evening down here.

As this is an angling forum and not one to determine wether a fish will 'scrape' through and be big enough for the government to be happy or for someone to be able to be happy after being boarded on the local beach by an invasion of fisheries officers i reckon these ' namby pamby' lists - set out as a 'guide' by the national federation of sea anglers are a fair and acurrate way of determining wether a fish is worthy for the pot or suitable to be counted in a match

I'll be glad to inform the southern areas fisheies committee that the nursery areas set out are no longer needed as Bass are in plentiful supply

just out of interest where did that 50 odd stone of bass end up ? im pretty sure it wasnt caught by an angler ?

Landed at the market, they were caught within beach casting range of the shore, bass have allways been plentifull over my area despite some pretty intensive netting activity, people seem to think they can rock up to a shore mark and automatically catch fish. I can look at the sea and if i think conditions are right i can get fresh decent bait and literally guarantee i will catch, this has took me years of learning.

Re: Bass sizes

One good thing in sussex.......you will never see a net in casting distance of the shore, or was this a slight exaggeration Turbotaker?
We all know that most Bass are caught in only a few feet of water and they hug the shoreline looking for food......I do know rod fisherman who from time to time would bag up on certain mark's along our shores, probably getting into the "stone weight" they too are making a living from it.
