Re: we want bass

bubble float, treaddur bay, just off the flag pole up ravenspoint.

live rage (try tackle box attached to spar shop in treaddur for good fresh rag) on about 3-4 foot of trace after the float. cast out as far as you can and trot the bait across the surface not too fast on the retreive so that the worm stays around 5-10 cm from the surface.

i've caught decent bass there doing this and have seen some doubles caught by people doing the same.

Re: we want bass

I prefer poppers when it is rough. I have never caught on them when its been calm.

Re: we want bass

You are right there Portland i always do better with a bit of chop on the surface.
and only fish in the mornings of Just before dark the fish are a lot more active them.
Get away from the crowds and find your self some were quiet with some currant running and watch out for small bait fish jumping a sure sign the Bass are hunting.
Keep at it because when you have your first one of the top you will have the BUG big time.

Re: we want bass

Looking at the area you are from try live sandeel or crab bait fished on the Anglesey side of the Meni Straights opposite a house in the middle of the straights or float fished white red gill at the cearnarfon end of the straights

Re: we want bass

Caught this puppy on half a mackerel just the tail on a penel rig.
Bit of a shame i didnt weigh it as it was a monster and could have been close to 14lb it was 27 inches long and in the photo i had already gutted the fish !

Re: we want bass

27" ain't that long for a 14lb bass must of been quite fat, very nice fish from the local area.
