If you can get hold of live sandeels about 20-30cm long free lining is best. Get a spinning rod and braded line, just go straight down to a 6/0 hook. The knots can be testing with brade but you will soon get the hang of it. 26 Bass in two hours is my record catch so far with this method. I only had 24 eels so I had to use the dead ones. If you cast out and reel in slowly it works well and you cover all the ground around you.

I reckon a light spinning rod with 30lb braid, a zip slider with a 1oz bomb, bead, swivel, 2ft length Amnesia with a 2/0 3/0 pennel setup and crab baits, tossed into the surf will put a great big smile on yer face when a Bass nails it.

Much fun!

Re: i want to try different rigs , any suggestions ??

Now if i only new where to get live sandeel, fletch mate was that 26 bass on the boat or shore, seems a tad high for the shore but if you did fairplay. The answer to the rig i use a pennel pulley rig cause i fish for bass off a rock mark with crab that has with a lot of work turned into prime peeler, if useing rig we tip dont have 2 hooks the same if a bass dont take it 2 fish might, have the smaller hook above the bigger one, that tip was given to me by Mr Steve Allmark World shore champion. Everyone has different ways, but if its good enough for steve its good enough for any angler. Dont think big fish big hooks, on a boat maybe. I am a very experienced match angler shore and boat, and fish with the best and there is so much to learn. Hope this helps. Stud.

pennel rig, both hooks same size funnily enough.................

i do know a thing or two about bass............i dont need tips from anyone .....................

top tip that by the way my best ever shore session was 4 fish for 41lb thats right 41lb TWO over 11lb .....SAME SESSION

I can and do back what i say up, im gona post a few pics and update this years catch

2 doubles this year .....2 nines and over 20 over 8lb.........all from the shore .............

i dont post much on here, should really , will have to

BAITS change for bass throughout the year .....to stay in touch be flexible !!!!!!!! to catch big fish year round stay flexible..........

NEVER put all your eggs in one basket .........EXPERIENCE backs this up !! those of you from the south have probably got an idea that i aint a porky teller !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ask yourself this, would you eat the best steak for every meal , sooner or later something else would take your fancy .........mmm

Your right your good bk17 and i give you credit for it and i wouldnt mind doing a night session with you, and i get the same buzz watching the next angler catch a fish as a bend in my rod. Regarding the steak mate i like mine rare and thats the way it has to be cooked. 2 hooks the same i agree, just i use 2 different, makes no odds, but i will say this nice fish mate very impressed. Respect. Paul.

Re: i want to try different rigs , any suggestions ??

aah.........but would you eat steak for every meal......

it would kinda get boring in the end, anda change would be more enjoyable, but sooner or later the steak would appeal again.......see what im getting at

i use two hooks the same size as many bass are caught on the top hook, i feel more comfortable with this........not because its the best way just what i use .

top baits change from area to area and location and season, just keep an open mind and be prepared to move with the seasons

theres some great bassing to be done , a little thought and time spent on groundwork is well worth the efforts long term.......

every tide theres a certain" biteing time" , find it and stick to it .......bass have habits and tend to stick to them as and when they move through marks.......many fish are caught during this time and few out of it ..........you can never rule out a fish turning up unexpected BUT

FISH 5 two hours sessions at the RIGHT TIME OR ONE TEN HOUR MARATHON

more fish on the short sessions at "biteing time"

Bk17, im in stiches mate, your spot on. I do love my steak though. You sound a sound bloke, like mysely straight from the hip. I couldnt of put it better myself. Biteing time is the right time agreed. Hope you catch a twenty pounder, my heviest is 6lb 4oz,but would swap the 10 bass in last few weeks for one off your doubles. Tight lines. Paul.
