yes'i have done some plug fishing for bass,on a beach just up the road from me,it is very shallow ,the tide goes out for about a mile, even at high water there is only about 5 foot depth, during the summer months the sea is often alive with literally thousands of schoolies, mainly in the 6 to 12 inch bracket,i spent many hours a couple of summers back plug fishing there thinking that perhaps there may be some bigger ones there, apart from a couple of foul hooked schoolies and a few snotties on peeler i didnt have any joy,im covinced there are some there, perhaps a whole squid or livebait may be the answer,

Re: Plugging for Bass from the Shore

I hav'nt got fantastic sceanery that you enjoy and i envy you that but I lure fish for Bass in the Thames estuary a lot, I find that dark coloured lures work best especially after dark or in low light conditions, anything with red in is a no no, catches only scad. for fun I sometimes use those tiny little redgill type rubber eels about 2 inches long with a fly rod, mostly gets the small ones but on fly gear its great sport.
