Barbel on the Hampshire Avon

Hi Guys.

I am going away for the weekend in my caravan. The place I am staying at has the Avon flowing through it and it is reputed to hold Chub and Barbel in that stretch.

Having never fished for Barbel before, what likely holding places should I be looking for?
I was thinking of using 14mm Halibut pellets as bait. What ground bait should I use and how should I use it?#

What is the most effective method for Chub?

Re: Barbel on the Hampshire Avon

for the chub and barbel luncheon meat always seems to score in teh winter due to teh high fat content, maggots always good for chub, freelining bread whilst feeding mashed bread is effetive at teh right times,

Cool Re: Barbel on the Hampshire Avon

My best baits have always been.......

Hook Baits

1. Worms - Brandlings and Reds
2. Halibut Pellets
3. Luncheon Meat in coloured water
4. Casters

Feed / Groundbait

1. Halibut Pellets
2. Hemp
3.Casters

I like to use a snake bite bolt rig.

I hope this helps.
