The Yorkshire Rivers.

Back in the sixties and seventies, I used to fish for Barbel in the above. Living in Sheffield, they were about the nearest to me for that speicies.

How are they fairing now, I just might pay them a visit next year.

Thnx,

Ripple.

Re: The Yorkshire Rivers.

I fished the swale around Richmond near catterick for around a month back in 66 and had some nice Grayling, nothing big but still very enjoyable. There were some good Barbel coming out from the Swale then, but unfortunately I haven't managed to get back there since.

It will be nice to see how you fare with Barbel when you pay a visit next year.

Many thanks for this. I used to fish the swale at Fawdington, Cundle and Helperby. I have also fished it at Pickhill and Gatenby. Barbel up to 8lb, chub to 5lb. Not big by todays standards but back then, these were terrific fish.
Also used to fish the Ure around Boroughbridge and Ouse further down.

Ripple.
