does either of the rods you have, have a quiver tip attached ?

do you know what the test curve on the carp rod is ?

Re: First time trying ror a barbel

No none of the rods have quiver tips although the tip on the match rod is slim enough so that i can use it for float or quivertipping the carp rod has a 2.5 test curve and ive used it as a quivertip for carp up too mid double figures before ?

Re: First time trying ror a barbel

i think you may be between a rock and a hard place, float rod too light, carp rod to stiff, look at buying yourself a good quiver rod, they are not that expensive,

Re: First time trying ror a barbel

I use 2.5 tc carp rods for all my barbelling on the Trent, you will know when you have a bite trust.
The play in mine are fine too. I feel the fight very well.
I suppose if I had the money I would prefer specialist barbel rods but I dont so these work fine

Re: First time trying ror a barbel

Hiya. Fox do there Floodwater and extreme barbel range in 2.75lb tc, so it will be ok I should have thought. I have several barbel rods with fixed avon and quiver tips. The quiver tips are still in the cases as barbel are not a shy biting fish and aren't too bothered by a little bit of resistance. Give them a try, they will definately do you for the time being. Save up £60 and buy a 2lbtc youngs barbel rod - they are excellent and don't break the bank!
