Typical beginners bloody luck!!!!

Hi peepoles,did an overnighter at Bob's Island again last night,arrived n set up for about 7o'clock,with a mate who'd had barbel to 4-5lb before.
All quiet for a couple of hours after getting there when my mate's alarm set about doing wat they do best n screamed off.A great battle ensued and after a good 15 minute fight and a few hairy moments managed to slide the net under what i can only describe as a BEAST!!!

I said to my mate that it was definitely a double and we both looked at each other in amazement as the scales(already zeroed for the net)went an astonishing 13lb8oz.
Not another sniff until 1:30am when i had a tiddler @ 6lb

But at least i had a fish,a good session i suppose but wish tht double had come to me

That is a cracking fish - no doubt about it, your mate must be chuffed. At least you didnt blank though, that would have made it even worse !

why do barbel always look bigger than they are, if that was a 13lb carp it wouldnt look that great but a barbel looks massive, long and slender I suppose
