Re: River Wye I'm not sure what the name of the place was. The best way I can describe it to you is i turned off the roundabout by the petrol station where the cops always hang around and just down that road is a bridge, think it may be called the wilton bridge, and there's a car park on the right a bit further down and I fished that stretch. My two mates were there at the crack of dawn on saturday and had 4 pike in the morning, between 9lb - 15lb. I didn't turn up until after the rugby and it was a slow day but as soon as the light started fading the fish started biting. Think its gonna be barbel fishing in the morning and evening and go for the pike inbetween.

Re: River Wye I didn't see a tackleshop in Hereford town centre, you don't have a post code for a tackle shop there do you Chaz? I spent the weekend staying at the Warners site at Holme Lacey House (in Holme Lacey near Hereford) which had a fishing lake although I didn't do any fishing, but we are going back next july and can't wait to give the Wye a try. Any suggestions of places to fish for Barbel & Chub will be greatfully received. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: River Wye Yeah don't think It matters really where you fish on the wye, first and only time I fished it I didn't know where to go so just jumped on any peg on a stretch I've driven past a few times in ross on wye. Landed a 6lb barbel and a 4 1/2lb chub within minutes of each other, gutted it was just as I was about to pack up but the bailiff did say barbel and chub are best in the mornings and evenings. Pike in the day, my mate has a had great catches on the pike, he's been up there a few times over the last week and he's about 12 out of there, smallest being 9lb and biggest 18lb 7oz, that day I caught my barbel and chub my mate was lure fishing for them a few pegs up when all of I sudden I heard him screaming like a little girl to grab a net, I ran over with one only to get there and see my mate bring the fish to the surface and it was huge, can't say for sure but it looked like a high twenty possible 30. But it took one look at my mate, bolted, and shook the hook. Needless to say my mate was sulking for quite a while after that lol. Been told to fish she shallows by the concrete steps as well, as a guy told my mate he whipped out a 4 1/2 lb perch.
