overnighter at bob's island(and new pb)

Hi all,I took a friend(who'd not caught a barbel) out to Bob's island at newark for a quick overnight session on Sunday nite.
The sun had been baking hot all day and as we arrived at around 6:30 pm it was still warm n the island looked as idyllic as ever.
We were hoping to get on the point looking str8 at the castle ruins but unfortunately some rather friendly eastern european barbel anglers had already set up in that swim,so we opted for 2 small swims near a fallen tree.
Everything set up n ready for a night of decent fishing,we sat for no more than 45 mins n my friends alarm started a slow steady few beeps,so he rushed to the rod and hit his first ever barbel of 4lb 3oz


We returned the fish after it'd recovered in the margins and sat back down.Half an hour passed and my buddy decided he'd go see if the fellas on the point had caught anything saying "keep an eye on my rod Gaz".
3 minutes later his rod roared off,bait runner struggling to keep up with the fish,i hit it and wow,some power here.I shouted my mates name 3 times and still he didnt return,but fortunately one of the friendly polish chaps came n gave me a hand to land my new PB of 8lb 12oz


My friend returned as the fish slipped into the net,slightly dissapointed that he'd gone for a wander lol.But within minutes of returning his baited hair to the water had he hit his new PB of 5lb exactly


With that fish safely returned it was back in the bivvy chilling out with a coffee and a fag.
A couple of hours had passed and we were about dozing off in the chairs when my friends alarm sang into action with a mighty one toner,he scrambled to it half asleep and connected "this is a good fish Gaz" he said.After ten minutes of frantic action i managed to slip the net under a fish that looked like it might scrape a double,ever so fat around the belly,but surprisingly only went 8lb 4oz,but still another PB for my friend which meant we'd had 4 PB's in 1 nite,


All was quiet for the rest of the night until around 6:45am when i finally got a fish on my own rod weighing 6lb 15oz


After that fish we packed all our gear away and made our way home completely satisfied with the session and my mate was over the moon with "the best fishing session he'd ever done"

Wow that looked like a stunning nights fishing you had there mate!!!!! 4 PB's in one night says it all really

Thanks for the great comments guys,now my next mission,a double from the tidal stretch at torksey island.
A close friend held the tidal trent record for a week back in 2007 with a 17lb2oz barbel from the exact place ill be fishing so heres hoping.
