| Who says you can't catch Barbel when the Temperature is below 4 degrees? Who says Barbel don't feed when the Temperature is below 4 degrees? <See here for Capture Details>. Although I wouldn't trust myself using 3.5lb line for Barbel even in such cold conditions, I have no doubt that Keith knows what he is doing and I applaud his ability, what a great barbel especially in such cold winter conditions with freezing snow on the ground. He doesn't usually use such fine line for Barbel in the summer & autumn months of course. Keith is not the type who likes the limelight and had to be talked into publicizing his Barbel. NB. For those who don't know Keith Speers; Keith is a very un-assuming well respected member of the Verulum Angling club who has held many club records for various different specimen sized fish over the years and who does a lot of voluntary work for the club including running various free specialist days for club members such as the popular yearly Barbel teach-ins held on the upper Gt. Ouse and his very popular 'Trotting with a Centrepin' teach-ins on the upper Lea and various other similar things for members new to different methods and species. He's a genuine great guy and a brilliant angler! A few days later he returned and caught two more up to 13lb 11oz. well done Keith Speers. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
