| Report 21-10-10 Afternoon all, Firstly I might as well mention I went carping last week at a gravel pit near Hull and caught bugger all, apart from a half eaten perch (damn pike ) so didnt bother reporting. But today I went down to the good old Trent. I arrived around 06:30, temperature was about 2 so fairly cold, it was also very dark so I began to set-up with my peak torch (from the pound shop bargain !!) Upon getting the gear out of the car I realised Id left my boots at home , Bu#ger !! I didnt fancy having wet and cold feet all day so I had to improvise..... ![]() I then made the usual mix of ground-bait and pellets for the big gun feeders, by the time I got both rods out it was starting to get light so I sat down and started to make my breakfast, ( sausage butties) as luck would have as soon as they started sizzleing the right hand rod started screaming nearly pulling the rod off the rest. I struck and was into a hard fighting fish, I then realised the sausages were still cooking and this fish wasnt coming in fast. As luck would have it a fellow angler was popping by to see how I was doing and he turned off the gas. I landed this barbel , it looked around 6-7 lb ( I couldn't find my scales at the time) ![]() It was a nice fish but it seemed to have a few ulcers as you can see in the pictures, which is a good enough reason fro me to invest in a fish care kit or at least some bonjella for next time. I wish I could say I then went on to bag up, but that didn't happen. I didn't catch another fish and called it a day at around 14:30. Even tho I only caught the one I have to admit I prefer the Trent over any gravel pit. __________________ Species 2011.. Common carp,Mirror carp,Pike,Rudd,Dace,Eel,Bream,Perch,Roach,Barbel, Chub |
