Best session so far !

After plenty of rain over the last week me and my fishing partner Iggy decided to have a overnighter on the river.

I arrived on the bank around 10am, the river was a completely different sight compared to last week, it had risen a good 5 foot and had plenty of colour. bonus !

I made up a mix of halibut ground bait, hemp and pellets. I chucked two rods out equipped with 4oz feeders baited with fish-meal boilies.

All was quiet for around 2 hours so I packed up one carp rod and got out the trusty quiver tip loaded with 2oz cage feeder loaded with ground bait and maggots with maggot hook bait.

I began pulling in small chub, perch and gudgeon. But the biggest was a 5lb 2oz bream.

I then hooked into something on the quiver tip and the carp rod at the same time, I landed a 6lb bream on the carp rod (rather quickly) but had to hold it in the water while I landed a small perch on the other rod. Back went the perch shortly followed by the bream.

Both rods went quiet until the quiver got a heavy take and duly snapped.

I put the other carp rod back in.

After an hour or so the right and rod screamed off and after a great fight I landed this 11lb.2oz PB Barbel,

Iggy showed up around 16:00 and promptly left around 17:00 to get our chinese takeaway (easy life I know lol).

While he was away I landed this 8lb1oz Barbel

After tea the weed became horrendous and I was contemplating packing up as I was getting dummy runs every 5 mins and also lost 2 feeders one after the other.
But it calmed down so I stayed.

Got in bed around 00:00 and was just nodding off when the rod went, Thinking it was more weed I slowly put my boots on and lazily wondered to the rod with no torch (big mistake)

I began to reel in fast to avoid getting snagged when I felt the rod bend round and realised it wasn't weed but another fish !!
I tried shouting Iggy to help as it was pitch black and I didnt have my torch to hand, but he was unconscious and not even hand fulls of 20mm pellets chucked at his bivvy could wake him.
I sum how managed to land this beauty using partial moonlight and the force !!

I cast in again but the weed was terrible so I brought the rods in and got some kip.
No more fish.
