Did you go? I did and as your user name suggests, I didn't get any Barbel, although I had an interesting mixed (if small) bag........

4lbs Chubb
1lb Chubb
2 eels, (1lb and 1.5lbs)
2 Salmon fry (each around 4-5 ounces, never seen one before, they had stripes and pink/red spots)
1lb 4oz rainbow trout (again a first, tough mouths!)
1 Dace (9 ounces)

I couldn't catch anything on cheese, luncheon meat or halibut, all the above were caught on maggot.

Re: Barbel fishing on the River Severn

Didn't go to the teme in the end. Trouble is it's a pain driving for an hour just to have the standby phone go off and have to pack up and drive back. So I tend to stay local. I've decided that I am going to really get to know the BAA hampton loade stretch for barbel, chub , roach and maybe even some pike. I will be going down the Teme at some point though. It's far too beautiful a rivre to not sit next to.
