Re: My first Barbel - River Culm Down past the left hander follow the line of the pylons then the river goes off to the right just follow the river. Right after the weed raft is a pool of slack water. Normally I just trot through the slack then hold back @ the end of the run. U can't miss it, its where the railway near enough meets the river.

Re: My first Barbel - River Culm Fished the left hander this morning at first light. There was a long line of bubbles heading up through the water and I thought it might have been a carp. Then, what should pop it's head up and look straight at me - A bloody huge otter! First time I've seen one there. I know it can affect fishing and fish stocks but it was very pretty!

Re: My first Barbel - River Culm To true, last year I saw a pair down stream I know its nature but I hope they don't destroy the fish stocks! I fished above the weir last week had some good sized roach. I went across the field next to ellerhayes bridge. Think it could be pretty good when it gets colder.

Re: My first Barbel - River Culm We have them on the upper Gt Ouse and as soon as one swims past we might as well go home as the Barbel just seem to dissapear completely. Plus the Barbel there have become quite scarce anyway since the Otters started to appear on the scene. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
