Re: Advice on a decent barbel rod please

the new greys g tec rods are great,i have been using a 13 foot method feeder.it as a anti lock blank and 3 carbon tips, large eyes ,which most tips dont, also the drennen power 2tc.approx £125 but you get what you pay for.if you want to go down the greys root, iwould pay that bit extra for the x flight, exellent rod.at the end of the day its not the rod that catches the fish.try not to buy by mail order and try and look at the rod.ialso take the reel u will use,to see if it fits properly

Re: Advice on a decent barbel rod please

For the number I catch I could use a broom handle ;) I currently use my Diawa PMS112 Whisker avon. It might be quite light but , for now, it does the job. I've had it ages and love the through action and just how light it is. I too have a wife who would go spare if she even saw the "few odds and sods" bill let alone "honey I've bought a new rod". What's amazing is she DOES understand why I have 14 golf clubs but does not understand why I have about 20 rods (though some are really cheap rubbish whips I use to keep the girls catching on the cut).

Re: Advice on a decent barbel rod please

I have both the 1.5lb and 2 lbs test curve Wychwood Rogue Barbel rods that I got in a sale last year, absolutely love them, the quality is excellent, I even used the 2lb test curve rod to bring in a 18lb Carp this spring! IMO one of the best value decent quality rods out there.
