| Re: Barbel Fishing Tewksbury River Severn Not sure of the state of the river at the moment Richard, however, last time I fished it I needed a pretty heavy led/feeder......12lb 12lb mainline, 10lb hook length....that's needed because it can be pretty snaggy. Use a long hook length and try to keep the hook small, say a 14-12", I use IQ for the hook length and super specialist barbel hook, they are Teflon coated. My mate has been fishing there for years and he swears on halibut S-Pellets, which caught him some cracking barbel. Keep the rig simple, running leger is best IMHO, try to use heavy but small(ish) feeders. 3-4mm halibut pellets, soaked until soft, mix in with a few casters and hemp. Well, that is my usual approach at the mighty Sabrina anyway ![]() __________________ There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind." - Washington Irving |
