| Spring in Sydney Things are just starting to move on the fish front in the Harbour,so far we have had the windiest time. But since this is usually a sign that the Spring-break in the weather is upon us it only temporarily closes down the fishing. There have been quite a few nice "Silver Bream",and the odd "Silver Trevally",but my favorite fish has just started to come back into the Harbour from reefs offshore (Yellowtail Kingfish). My home page has a pic if you want to see what they look like. A friend of mine captured a 70cms one last sunday, and I was able to help a couple of mates get onto them as I had seen a pro guide hooking a few from a boat.Since I like Pier fishing they will have to come to me,rather than chasing them (and the birds) when they hit the surface schools of baitfish. Some nice Calamari Squid are also being caught, these are great eating and the guts & tentacles make terrific bait when used fresh for King & Jewfish (Mulloway) which is similar too but grows much larger than a Zander. There are pictures of all these species on my home page. ![]() |
