Re: Teingmouth

Norfolkboy,
You will find south devon very different from norfolk beaches! My father in law lives in Norwich and when I have to visit I always try a bit of fishing and find it very hard over there.
At teignmouth (check the spelling!) you can fish to the right of the pier to a sandbank with sandeel or peelers for bass according to locals but I spin for them only 200 yards out from a boat! or try the fish quay in the estuary for flounder using peelers and attractor spoons. Also Polly steps next to the big warehouse can fish well.
The best advice I can give you is not to bother to fish the point, the very end of teignmouth beach which looks such a good place. Its a tackle graveyard and the locals tend to suggest it as they can then go and collect your tackle at low water!!!
Be very careful if you choose to fish the salty as it fills from behind, it can fish very well next to the bridge (seaward side) but the water comes in fast so watch a tide or two before you venture out there for a long stay.
You didn't say dates for your holiday, are you coming down soon or have you already been? I fish the area regularly so bung it on screen and if you're down when I'm out maybe you can come out on the boat. Check out the Bassing around exmouth thread and you may not want to tho!!
Regards Jules

Re: Teingmouth

Hi norfolk boy
Are you staying till a week sunday? thats my next trip and will happily take you out but have you checked out the 'bassing around exmouth' thread? You may not want to come! Its very patchy at the moment but there are good fish about.
The reason I know polly steps is fishing well is that I went there to launch my boat for the year and there was a load of dead flounder just left there to rot. Whats that all about? I will only kill a fish if I'm going to eat it.
Gotta go and have a shower cos I stink. Look forward to hearing more from you. We'll catch loads.
Best thing is its free to come out with me.
Regards jules
