Fishing in Brest and west coast of France . Any spots?

New here. I am posting for my husband who claims to not know how to use the computer as he has too much fishing to do!!

He is due to be in Brest on July 4th and has a couple of free days to fish, can you recomend any particular spots at all. He is heading down the west coast to Bordeaux so is passing Quimper, Vannes, La Rochelle, Royan Etc. any info would be good.
We have telephoned the tackle shops but they aren't particularly helpful in that they say yes there are fish yes off the beach. You can almost hera the french sholder shrug as they speak!
