Re: Live Sandeel ect? Ive caught a majority of my fish on dead eels, but to be honest I dont normally fish with live ones as there a pain in the butt to transport and keep alive. __________________ If you cant catch em-SHOOT EM Air Arms EV2-Competition http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3815/dscf00397bo.jpg Air Arms S410-Hunter http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...60751566nw.jpg

Re: Live Sandeel ect? Hi Charlotte, I'll try and explain how to use sandeels as simple as I can for you. With Slapton you can fish it several ways, you can fish at very long range to hit the cockle beds or you can fish close in about 15-50 yards out with float. If you are using live eel then you dont want to be blasting the fragile live eel out to 100-200yard as there never going to survive the g-force or the landing. For this you might as well use dead ones. But if you are floating close in then live will work well. To hook a live eel use a thin style hook about 2/0 size, pass the point of the hook through the eels mouth and out the side of one of the gills, be really careful not to damage the eel as you dont want to kill it,then just knick the point of the hook through the underside of the eel just past the small fins at the front, dont go through too deep as you must not damage the eels vital organs, buy this I mean the hook point must pass right through the eels body without damaging it. If however you want to fish at long range then you can still attach the eel in the same way but make a small loop with the line and cast this over the head of the eel to secure it.Its better if someone can show you as its a little tricky to explain on here. __________________ If you cant catch em-SHOOT EM Air Arms EV2-Competition http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3815/dscf00397bo.jpg Air Arms S410-Hunter http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...60751566nw.jpg

Re: Live Sandeel ect? If its maximum distance you want then keep it simple and clipped down for better trajuectory and aerodynamics.A single hook with a impact shield or something similar is best. Close in work just the standard float setup. GOOD LUCK. I might be down you way on Thursday if you fancy joining us for a couple of hours. __________________ If you cant catch em-SHOOT EM Air Arms EV2-Competition http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3815/dscf00397bo.jpg Air Arms S410-Hunter http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...60751566nw.jpg
