| Newbie around Southampton Using a spinning rod/reel, 8lb line and two bass wedges. What is the best area to fish with this setup? Hamble? Itchen? Hythe/Weston Shore? Docks/Marchwood? In a small dinghy is trolling effective? Could i adopt a better method? Going out tomorrow, so any help appreciated, thanks in advance! Even thought about fishing Beaulieu but after spending £80 on a fishing setup yesterday, then costs for a fishing permit, launching the boat, car parking and petrol to get there it works out alittle costly! Certainly visit there another time, how is the fishing that way? |

| Re: Newbie around Southampton alright fella..... well i have fished: town quay, magazine lane, stokes bay, hill head, haslar wall, gilkicker point, hamble river.... had a few results but i think now is the best time of year to hit the beaches.. if you have a boat try going out and around portsmouth or off of marchwood in and around the hot water inlet up by the boatyard... there has been plenty of mackeral caught and quite a few bass and smuts... so just try out a few places mate and see what suits your style of fishing best.. tight lines. chris __________________ _____________________________________________ Species for 2011 :- 1x mackeral 2x bass 2x pout 1x baby smut 1x doggy 2x sole |
