bait

Hi all

As I've just started fishing again, most of the fishing I've done I've used squid from the local chinese supermarket. It's only a couple of quid a box. I've recently bought some baby sqid from a firm on Ebay at £15, approx a hundred. Has anyone else used this bait and what do you think of it?

I've used baby squid in the past and had a bumper bag of dabs from the beach Cut them in 4 and they're great for tipping off lugworm or ragworm.

Re: bait

cheers for that Rob. was thinking of using it as a cocktail. Cutting it into 4 pieces I hadn't thought about sounds good to me.

thanks again

Re: bait

Living inland as I do I tend to only get frozen black lug and some rate it as a good cocktail mix with squid. however, last time I fished your way a bait shop in Cleveleys had some live lug but that was over a year ago. I think if he still does live that might be a better option than frozen? was thinking of fish 5 Bar this weekend.

Re: bait

fresh blacks will be like rocking horse s**t in the winter months and i personally dont think they are any better than fresh yellow tails or blow lug this time of year ..
100 'party squid' for 15 quid is expensive mate !
try 'squidsin' sea baits for some great frozen baits and good prices..
watch out for cleaned squid as its had all the manky fish attractants washed from it ..

Re: bait

Hi Scottish and Metal.

Thanks for the info. These baby squid arrived this morning, 2 plastic type takaway tubs, They were defrosting as they arrived and when I unwrapped them and opened a container they weren't cleaned and still in their own juices so that is a bonus. Your right though they seem a bit expensive. It says that there's approx a hundred, as I don't fish as often as most anglers I've worked it out that I'll use approx, half a container a session. so thats not too bad. still I'll definitley check out your source.

Regards

kajydog
