| Where? Hi All, Well i must say that i probably live as far away from the Sea as you can get (which really gets me down) in Buckinghamshire. So its not often i manage to get away and there is no particular spots that i visit although have fished a lot of the south coast. In fact i need some advice as where to head next , the misses is taking the kids to her parents in austria around march/april time and im in the mind of going camping/fishing for a couple of weeks . Im at a loss as to where to go im thinkin i would like somewhere fairly remote that allows fires and has good fishing off rocks or beach and preferably pituresque and peacfull! Also a decent pub within walkin distance would be good too! Any suggestions would be gladly recieved not bothered where in mainland uk either as i can jump in the van!. Thanks in Advance and pleased to be a member! Dan aka M1notaur |

| Re: Where? depends how closer to April you are talking as the fishing might have improved by then ![]() there are plenty of areas on the south coast but im sure even i , not through want of looking can't suggest somewhere remote to camp / fish that has a pub in walking distance !! Somewhere like Hayling Island will put you on good fishing waters and as its an island you're never far from ameinitys such as the chippy, newsagents or the local boozer ![]() To be honest tho theres not alot in the way of fish around at the minute until the mackerel appear although daylight fishing might produce a nice plaice down here .. there is a great big static caravan park on Selsey that is worth visiting if you want to book for a few days as the beach is less than 2 minutes walk . huge smoothounds will start to appear as the crabs begin moulting but you might just be a month or so too early for this ... | Re: Where? Hi mate you should consider a spot in Folkstone Kent called the Warren. It is a rugged stretch of coastline between Dover and Folkstone that i think has everything you are after. There are 2 campsites no the warren if you want a solid basecamp for your trip but there are also plenty of places to pitch a tent along the base of the cliffs should you widh to rough it. If you head further down toward Dover you will rarely come across people should you wish to be left alone. There is a shop at the warren campsite which you can use even if your not staying there, there is a public loo at the warren campsite also ( take loo roll and a torch if your planning a night visit) , There is a cafe/pub at the little switzerland campsite which is located halfway up the cliffs, if you need to hike into town then its a beautifull walk along the beach and will take about 20/30 mins, there are also some pubs along the top of the cliffs at Capel-le-ferne and there are some pretty steap walks along the sides of the cliffs if you wish to reach them although they are pretty steep so i would take boots if you intend to try. As for the fishing you can fish of the beach or the concreete apron which will put you into 20ft of water at high tide, you can expect to catch Bass, Dogfish, Flatfish, Large Eels and pout at this time of year. Here some pics of the net and 1 I took from the Little switzerland campsite which I highly reccomend. __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |

| Re: Where? Hi bluesbro, have you fished the warren much? I have thought about fishing it my self. Do you know what the apron fishes like and what sort of bottom it is? I think I will definetly give it ago in the summer. J |

| Re: Where? Hi mate, yes i have fished the warren loads, i have fished there since i was a boy so can give you a few pointers. Firstly it`s a rubbish place to fish in the winter but comes to life in the spring summer. You can expect to catch sole, dogfish, bass, eels and pout. If you don`t mind a walk then there is a brilliant spot to fish called the Black wall which is a hot spot for large bass (10lb+) . The ground at the warren can change from clean sand to rock in a space of 10 yards so it`s best to take a look at low water to see how the land lies. You can dig lugworm there also dig Sandeel at low water on big spring tides. If you fancy meeting up for a trip I will be down there several times in the spring/summer so can show you a few of my favoured marks.
